Melissa Galarreta is an International Tax Advisor in Thorn Law Group’s International Tax Practice. She focuses on international tax controversy and tax litigation, advising domestic and foreign individuals and businesses on international taxation issues, including structuring and reporting of cross-border investments, use of foreign and domestic trusts, corporate and partnership structures and estate planning. Ms. Galarreta also works on matters involving international treaty issues and international asset reporting obligations. She hails from France and is fluent in English, Spanish, and French.
Ms. Galarreta has assisted clients in various matters including international tax law, offshore bank accounts and disclosures, installment payment agreements and offers in compromise. Her work is focused on cases that involve foreign assets, taxes, and reporting requirements. She handles both international and domestic tax issues, working with U.S. taxpayers to address tax issues and reduce the cost of coming into compliance with the IRS.
Prior to joining Thorn Law Group, Ms. Galarreta received her Master’s degree in International Law from the University of Toulouse School of Law. After she finished school, she worked at different French firms where she assisted partners in International Civil and International Criminal matters. While working with this firm, she assisted numerous clients to resolve tax matters by avoiding penalties and criminal prosecutions. Additionally, Ms. Galarreta worked with firms that specialized in Business and Tax Law. During her time, she represented both firms and individuals in matters relative to Business and Tax Litigation. As a result of her international experiences, Ms. Galarreta brings a better understanding of International Tax matters to Thorn Law Group’s clients.
