HELPING POTOMAC RESIDENTS MANAGE OFFSHORE ACCOUNT ISSUES
Managing and disclosing your offshore bank account information should not be a chore. However, the IRS has recently stepped up its efforts to crack down on offshore tax evasion. As a result, the pressure is on for you to properly disclose your assets – and we are here to help. With an extensive understanding of the way in which the U.S. government monitors and investigates offshore accounts, each Potomac tax attorney at our firm will work with you to proactively resolve potential legal concerns and meet Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) requirements.
If disclosure issues are not properly resolved, foreign bank account holders may end up penalized or even criminally prosecuted. With clients across the nation and across the world, our team has a deep understanding of what is at stake when you are notified of an investigation involving your account and we work diligently to resolve compliance matters as quickly and smoothly as possible. Our successful track record speaks for itself, as evidenced by our satisfied clients:
“The attorneys at Thorn Law Group were so knowledgeable about the way the IRS Criminal Investigation Division works. They helped put our minds at ease and walked each of us through the whole Voluntary Disclosure process. With the help of Thorn Law Group, we were able to get back into compliance and were able to avoid criminal prosecution.” — Former Client
ABOUT VOLUNTARY DISCLOSURE
The IRS introduced the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program in 2009. The aim of the program was to reduce the civil monetary penalties for taxpayers coming forward with unreported offshore accounts. They ensured taxpayers that they would not face Foreign Bank Account Reporting (FBAR) criminal penalties, and were so successful that the IRS created a new Offshore Account Amnesty Program in 2012.
Since then, our team has gained invaluable experience, guiding clients through the voluntary disclosure process. Due to the strict requirements involved, it is important that you trust your case to a tax attorney who fully understand the process, which typically involves paying penalties, back taxes and interest on the offshore account.
